What a month!

Wow...so much has happened since our last post!As you know, Kimberly began crawling on July 3rd, and she has not stopped since! In fact, she is becoming very confident with her new talent. She now knows that she can follow George and I from room to room, and she does so with a huge grin on her face. Also, if she gets bored with Momma and Daddy in the living room she crawls into kitchen in order to play with her farm toy! Life as we know it will never be the same! We have baby proofed somewhat, but so far Kimberly is showing that she is a good listener. If she is doing something she shouldn't she stops when we tell her no-no.
At the beginning of August we went with Grandma and Grandpa to Fort Walton Beach, FL. It was so nice to get away for a little while. Kimberly enjoyed all the attention that she got, and even got a cute little tan. While there she started crawling even more, and learned how to open a cabinet door much to her delight. She got to spend a lot of time in the pool, and went to the beach. She really was not a fan of the waves hitting her. However, this may have been due to the fact that it was around her morning nap, but soon afterwards Kimberly took her first nap listening to the waves crash around her. A tired Kimberly is not a happy Kimberly that is for sure! One day while we were in Florida Grandma and Grandpa watched Kimberly while George and I went to Pat O's in Destin. It was nice to have a "date" and to get away for a few hours. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa! Another big event for Kimberly was that she got to meet her great-great aunt Jane and great-great uncle Dick while we were in Fort Walton. They both enjoyed the visit, and we are so glad that they got to meet Kimberly.
After our return from Florida it was back to the real world. This meant that Kimberly began her transition into the older infant room. Needless to say this has been some what of an emotional week for me. After all, my baby girl is growing up so fast! Where has the time gone? As with every new change, Kimberly has taken this transition in stride. She gets to interact with older kids, and is experiencing new foods. Yesterday she tried rice and gravy for the first time. According to her new teacher she made some pretty funny faces!
Other developments so far this month: Kimberly pulled herself up to her feet this past weekend! According to her teachers at daycare she has been doing this for a while, but this was the first time that I actually saw her standing on her feet. Of course when she accomplished this, she looked at Momma all proud with a huge smile on her face!
Verbally Kimberly is doing great! She says Dada when she sees George and she has finally learned Momma! She really says Momma when she is tired and whiny, but it is music to my ears! It melts my heart to hear her say Momma and hold her arms out for me. In Florida she started saying ball. EVERYTHING is a ball to Kimberly right now. She sees a ball and say ball, a bubble and says ball, Normandy and says ball. It is so cute! She is also beginning to understand what Momma and Daddy tell her. A couple of days ago George told her to go pick out a book, and she crawled to the "book" basket in the living room and took all the books out! We have a smart one if you ask me!
I have starting planning her first birthday party! Can you all believe that Kimberly will be 1 in about a month and a half? Where has the time gone?
