September/October 2009 Update

It is hard to believe that we are already into middle October. I guess time flies when you are busy with a 1 year old!

September marked the beginning of the LSU football season. Nana and Poppy graciously volunteered to watch Kimberly for home games, which has been a nice little break for George and I. It is nice to go to the games knowing that she is in good hands. For one of the games Kimberly did tailgate with us though. She was such a big girl, and enjoyed riding around campus, napping in the quad, and mastered climbing up and down the steps in the quad! Basically, right now our social activities revolve around LSU football, so we don't have much else to report for September.

October 3rd, as most of you know, was Kimberly's 1st birthday. I can't believe that our little girl is one! We had a ladybug party at Grandma and Grandpa with our family and friends. Grandpa and Paran Danny cooked a large jambalaya, while Grandma and Momma baked Kimberly's ladybug cake. Both came out yummy and cute! The day was what I hoped it would be, a good gathering of friends and family, and the weather actually cooperated! Everything was decorated to match the ladybug theme, which upset most of our guests. They were upset because that meant black, red, and white balloons were everywhere! What some people may need to be told was that LSU was playing UGA later that day, and their school colors are black, red, and white. Therefore, Grandma and Grandpa's neighbors must have thought they were cheering for UGA because of the black, red, and white balloons tied to their mailbox! Luckily, the decorations didn't jinx LSU, and we pulled off an exciting win. Also, I will tell everyone that after all the guests left, Kimberly, Grandma, and myself changed into our purple and gold!

On Monday we brought Kimberly in for her 1 year old checkup. Her doctor was pleased with her progress. She is now feeding herself with her fingers, crawling, becoming more verbal, pushing up to all fours, and understands what things are. We show her a bottle and she says "Bot". We tell her to get a book and she crawls to her books. Kimberly has slimed up a little and now weighs 19 pounds 11 ounces, which in between the 25th and 50th percentile. It appears we have a petite girl on our hands because she measured 27 3/8 inches, which puts her in the 5th percentile for height. This means that 95% of girls her age are taller/longer then her. Also, we have begun putting shoes on her because of the coming "winter", and the possibility of her walking soon. Poor Kimberly fits into 0-3 month old shoes! Of course Daddy and Poppy don't see why she needs shoes to begin with though! :)

Well, that is about all to report right now. If there are any new developments to our little family we will let ya'll know!
