Spring is here!

Hello everyone,

Spring has officially arrived in south Louisiana, and let me tell you it has been beautiful! March brought mild temperatures and beautiful flowers. April so far has done the same. We have been taking advantage of the spring weather by bringing Kimberly outside and to events.

In March, Kimberly enjoyed her first trip to the zoo. She loved the animals, especially the parrots, giraffes, fish and elephants. Kimberly even got to pet some goats. We had to watch her closely because Kimberly (thanks to Grandpa) has learned what an eyeball is. She would poke the poor goats in the eye and say, “eyeball!” Many afternoons in March were spent at Drusilla Park right by our house. Kimberly loves the swing, and is starting to warm up to the idea of going down a slide by herself. On another beautiful Saturday in March, Grandma and Grandpa brought Kimberly to Jambalaya Park in Gonzales. It is a great park, and I can’t wait until the “Splash Park” opens come summer time. The last weekend in March was spent at Nana and Poppy’s. It was a great break from George and I do to some things around the house and just relax.

April has been a fun month so far for our family. At the beginning of the month Kimberly turned 18 months! We brought her for her checkup and she is 29.4 inches (4th percentile) and 22.3 pounds (20th percentile). The doctor liked her growth and development: she is starting to eat with a fork/spoon (somewhat), eats most foods, points to things she wants (and gets upset when she can’t have them), stands up and takes steps, says 15-20 words, and when asked who/where is Kimberly she points to herself. Also, we got the clearance to start feeding Kimberly seafood and strawberries. She is officially a Cajun because she loved her first taste of crawfish etoufee. In fact, she would pick the crawfish out and eat them before the rice! The biggest development was on April 6th: Kimberly started walking. She is getting more and more confident each day too.

Easter was also this month. I brought Kimberly to see the Easter Bunny, and she did a fantastic job! However, it made me sad because she is starting to look like a little girl, and not a baby. Our little girl is becoming a toddler! We went up to Toledo Bend and spent Good Friday there with Grandma, Grandpa, Paran Danny, and Unc. There George caught some huge sac-a-lait, and was getting quite cocky in his new skill. He actually had to show me where the fish were! Kimberly really enjoyed the fish. Again, she would see the eyes; poke the sac-a-lait in the eye and say, “eyeball.” When the fish would flop around in the sink she would give us a big belly laugh. It is safe to say that we will try and make it up there this summer or come fall. We then headed down to St. Francisville to spend Easter Sunday with Nana and Poppy. There Kimberly enjoyed looking at the lake, playing with Tigger, and “eating” the rocks. She also loved the Easter eggs that were there and enjoyed pulling them apart.

This weekend we will attend our first crawfish boil of the season in honor of Paran Danny who is going back to Alaska later this month. George and I are so looking forward to some yummy crawfish, and are looking forward to see Kimberly’s reaction to a live crawfish. I can promise pictures are soon to come!

Happy Spring everyone!

Love,
Angela, George and Kimberly
