Six Months Old...ALREADY!

On April 6th I brought Kimberly in for her six month check up. We are finding it hard to believe that she is already half a year old. Before we know it we will be celebrating her first birthday! Where has the time gone?At the appointment Dr. Katzenmeyer was very pleased with Kimberly's growth. Kimberly tipped the scales at 17 pounds 3 ounces (75th percentile) and was 25 inches long (25th percentile). We are not surprised she is on the shorter side. After all, she does not have much to work with if you look at me :) Also, Dr. Katzenmeyer gave us the go ahead to start Kimberly on rice cereal. George and I are planning on starting/trying it next weekend. Once Kimberly has mastered rice cereal, she will be able to start baby food. Our little girl is growing up before our eyes!
Lately, Kimberly has been sitting up for longer and longer periods of time. She's gotten quite good at leaning forward to pick up something and then sitting back up without falling over. Its quite interesting to watch her look at her surroundings and carefully pick which item she wants to play with. When she's not sitting up (or sleeping), she's become quite adept at rolling from her back to her tummy and back. She's even begun rolling over in her sleep on occasion.
In mid March, Kimberly took her first trip to Texas. She was her typical self and made the trip easy. While in Texas, Kimberly met her great-grandmother, Granny.
In late March, Kimberly's Nanny and I brought her to see the Easter bunny. At first she was not sure what to make of the giant bunny, but she did well and took a cute picture.
For Easter, we are heading up to Grandma and Grandpa's camp. This will be Kimberly's first trip there. Also, if the weather cooperates while we are there Kimberly will take her first boat ride. Grandma and Grandpa are prepared and bought Kimberly a life jacket now that she is over 15 pounds. Easter Sunday will be spent with Nana and Poppy.
