It has been a while since we last updated everyone on Kimberly's development and progress. It seems like she is developing all at once lately.June was a busy month for us. In mid June Kimberly got to go in a big pool for the first time at her Nanny's. She loved being in the water, but was not really a fan of her inner tube. She preferred it when Nanny or I would hold her in the water, so that she could slash and kick around. I really think she is going to be a swimmer. I am already planning on putting her in swimming lessons next summer. After all, it is never to early to learn how to swim! Also, in June we went to the Abita Brewery with Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Brent (AKA: Unc). It was hot, but she cooperated as usual.
In mid to late June Kimberly got really congested, was being fussy, and her appetite decreased, which is not like her at all. Therefore, I took her to the doctor. There we found out that she had another ear infection in her right ear. This makes 3 in that ear, but there is has been no mention of tubes yet. We are keeping our fingers crossed that tubes are not needed. We were told that they would recheck her ears at her 9 month check up on July 6th.
About two weeks ago, Kimberly started getting up on all fours and rocking. We figured crawling was not to far off at that point. It wasn't! Kimberly took her first crawls at Nana and Poppy house on July 3rd, the day she turned 9 months old! We know it won't be long before she masters this new skill and is exploring everything in our house.
Also, I picked her up from daycare a couple of weeks ago and her teacher tells me that she pulled herself up to her feet, and she continues to do so AT daycare. However, she does not want Momma and Daddy to see her new trick and refuses to do it at home! Another thing that she does at daycare, but not at home, is hold her own bottle. They have been telling us for months that she will hold her bottle to feed herself, but at home she shows no desire to do so. I guess she figures Momma and Daddy will do it for her. She is a stinker!
On July 6th we brought Kimberly in for her 9 month check up. Her doctor said she is right on target for development and everything. She topped the scales at 20 pounds 2.5 ounces (75th percentile) and 25.75 inches (25th percentile). Kimberly's doctor said she has really good trunk control and had a great disposition, which we already know! Kimberly's ear infection has cleared up, but she still has fluid in her right ear. Therefore, we have to go back on July 30th to see if the fluid has gone away. If not, we are not sure what direction that will take us in. We will keep you posted on that. That evening Kimberly decided it was time to show Momma and Daddy what she could do! While George was feeding Kimberly her evening bottle, she started clapping, high fiving, and holding her bottle! It is so cute to say "High five", and she does with the biggest smile on her face! We say "Clap, clap, clap", and she claps with another big smile on her face! It is so fun to watch her show off her latest tricks!
Verbally, Kimberly is doing well too. She says dada, baba, dudu (which I am thinking she means duck because she says this when she plays with her rubber ducky), and very occasionally I will hear what I think is mama. In other words, Kimberly is developing in leaps and bounds recently! Her favorite new trick is sitting up from her tummy. She is so funny because once she has done this she is so proud of herself and smiles, screeches, and waves her arms!
July 4th was typical Louisiana weather. It was hot and humid. We spent some time up and Nana and Poppy's and then the 4th at Grandma and Grandpa's. Kimberly loved the attention both sets of grandparents gave her and was one exhausted little girl come Sunday evening.
Our next adventure with Kimberly is going to be Florida! We are going for a week to Fort Walton with Grandma and Grandpa! I am so excited to see how Kimberly likes the sand, water, and waves. As usual, we will keep you posted on any new developments that come along!
